Sega plans to put out several remakes and remasters by next year

Sega’s catalog of classic games has an extremely dedicated following, and it regularly capitalizes on this fact. Old school Sonic the Hedgehog The game has seen more replays than can be counted. And thanks to the countless Genesis collections that have debuted over the years, fans don’t have to worry about its library potentially getting lost over time. More recently, Sega has created numerous remakes and remakes of its most beloved games, with Super Monkey Ball Banana Mania and unfortunately poor quality Sonic Colors Ultimate Highlights are notable examples. It seems like Sega has a lot of other stuff coming out of nowhere, as it aims to release several titles in the “remake/remaster, spin-off” genre. [or] change the topic “category in the near future.

Sega revealed this news when discussing its earnings for the previous fiscal year, which ended March 2022. According to the company, it has seen profits from game sales increase compared to fiscal 2021. and predicts that profit will grow further by March 2023.

Beneficial nostalgia

Sega suggests that a “significant increase in titles” released throughout 2021 contributed to this increase in profits, and that a notable portion of those games fall into “remake/remaster, spins” -off [or] change the theme “category. In fiscal year 2022, sales of games of this genre totaled around 4 million, which gives Sega a clear incentive to earn more.

One can only wonder what kind of remakes and remakes Sega is currently planning. Among the possibilities, a simple HD reproduction of Jet station Future would be one of the most acclaimed games, as that game has remained stuck on the original Xbox since its release. Of course, such a release would only be worthwhile if it were polished, which Sega hasn’t always done consistently, at least.
