Selma Blair says competing on ‘Dancing with the Stars’ offers her the ‘gift of a lifetime’ as she battles multiple sclerosis

LOS ANGELES — Among the 16 newcomers joining this ballroom on “Dancing with the Stars” this season is actress Selma Blair.

Last fall, Selma shared her experiences dealing with multiple sclerosis by filming the documentary Introducing Selma Blair. Now she says she is empowered by this new challenge.

Blair says a large part of her motivation comes from the support she has received since the release of her film.

Blair calls this a “new chapter” not only in her healing, but in finding strength in others. And she’ll be getting a lot of that power from pro dancer Sasha Farber.

“This is my first time stepping into the light, on a set, with a partner, with all of that. That’s something I stepped away from to heal and recover, and that’s what the doctor ordered,” Blair said.

“It gets difficult with MS,” Farber said. “And we came in to see what it would be like, and she was moving, inspiring, and it’s not just a lesson. You actually see someone transform in front of your eyes.”

“To think that I can move and then get all this attention from a partner teaching me, that’s a lifetime gift,” Blair said.

Dancing with the Stars will air live on Disney+ Monday night.

Disney is the parent company of this channel.
