Emergency services are treating several people at a primary school in south west London after a car crashed into the building.

The Metropolitan Police were called to an incident on Camp Road, Wimbledon at 9.54am and attended to along with paramedics from the London Ambulance Service and London Air Ambulance.

The London Fire Brigade also confirmed that they were on site with two fire engines and two fire rescue units.

Merton Police wrote on Twitter: “Officers are responding to an incident at a primary school in Camp Road, Wimbledon.

“At 09:54 we were called to report that a car had collided with a building at the school.

“Several people are being treated on site. We will release more updates when we can.”

Study Prep Wimbledon, also known as Wilberforce House, which is on Camps Road, declined to comment when questioned about the incident. The students are an all-girls school between the ages of 4 and 11 years.

Camps Road is about a mile from the All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club, which is currently hosting the Wimbledon Grand Slam Championship.

Incident “extremely worrying and worrying,” says Wimbledon MP

Stephen Hammond, Conservative MP for Wimbledon, told BBC Radio London: “It is obviously extremely worrying and extremely worrying.” MailOnline reports.

“I’ve just spoken to the local police, they are on duty, as are the rescue workers and paramedics.

“There are a number of victims, I don’t know exactly how many. Of course I know the area well.

“The area is really quite remote, but actually it’s a road that quite a lot of people drive to the golf clubs.”

The school declined to comment

British police said Thursday they were responding to a serious clash at a primary school in Wimbledon, south London, and several people were being treated at the scene.

“We were called at 09:54 on Thursday 6 July to report that a car had collided with a building belonging to the school in Camp Road,” London’s Met Police said in a statement.

London ambulances, including an air ambulance, and the fire service were also on site.

Police said they will provide more updates when possible. Study Prep Wimbledon, also known as Wilberforce House, which is on Camps Road, declined to comment when questioned about the incident.

Camps Road is about a mile from the All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club, which is currently hosting the Wimbledon Grand Slam Championship.
