SINGAPORE — After four straight days with no Covid-19 deaths and with new cases at their lowest level since early March, Shanghai is preparing to end more than two months of lockdown.

The majority of China’s financial capital’s 25 million residents can leave their homes and return to work from Wednesday, the Shanghai government said. Apart from those in risk areas, all shops can reopen, buses and trains resume normal operations and restrictions on private vehicles are lifted.
