Arouca opened the scoring in the 83rd minute through Cristo Gonzalez before a frantic and unique turn came.

Porto were awarded a penalty in the 90th minute, after which VAR decided to review the decision.

Referee Miguel Nogueira was then called to the pitchside monitor but appeared unable to communicate with the VAR hub due to a technical error.

After a long delay, the officer was given a mobile phone and discussed the possible punishment with his colleagues.

Nogueira decided to overturn his own decision and no penalty was awarded.

The drama continued when Porto were awarded another penalty in the 106th minute.

This time the penalty stood, but Wenderson Galeno’s shot from 12 meters out was blocked by Ignacio De Arruabarrena just as Arouca thought they had retained the three points.

Porto kept increasing the pressure and eventually equalized when Evanilson netted at 90+19.

After 22 minutes of stoppage time, the final whistle finally sounded.

This all came after Porto striker Mehdi Taremi ruled his first-half goal offside following a VAR check.

After a 2-1 away win at Rio Ave last weekend, it was the second dramatic conclusion to a game in as many weeks for Sergio Conceicao’s side.

Porto were 1-0 down but found the net twice in added time to secure an incredible comeback win.

The Dragons are third in the league table after four games and play in Champions League Group H with Shakhtar Donestk, Barcelona and Royal Antwerpen this season.
