A landlady was shocked to come home from vacation to find a new wall in her kitchen before making a grisly discovery behind it.
The woman had been traveling in Algeria for six months after renting her house to a couple.
The woman, whose identity has not been released, returned to her apartment in the Paris suburb of Livry-Gargan on July 9 before making the grisly discovery.
When she entered her apartment, she found a low wall that had been erected in her kitchen while she was away.
According to local reports, the wall was a meter high, 1.5 to 4.9 feet long and 5.7 inches wide.
The woman also noticed a strong bleach stench on the wall and dozens of creepy flies buzzing around.
Since the crime scene seemed suspicious to her, she immediately called the police.
Officials arrived at the house and punched a hole in the low wall.
Then the cops noticed the nauseating maggots and other creepy crawlies swarming around a blanket, obscuring something inside.
After tearing down the rest of the wall, the police found the body of a man who had been placed in the fetal position.
The victim was wrapped in plastic and found in an advanced state of decomposition.
Authorities are now reportedly awaiting the results of an autopsy to identify him and determine his exact cause of death.
The autopsy is to take place at the Bobigny public prosecutor’s office on the northern outskirts of Paris.
The matter is being investigated by the Seine-Saint-Denis Police, a French department based in the metropolis Grand Paris.
The homeowner told police that she only knew the couple by their first names and that the husband should make some reforms while she was away.
On July 10, local authorities said there had been no arrests so far.
This comes after the body of a young woman was believed to have been found immured in a wall nine years after her disappearance.
Spanish police officers began searching for the remains of 22-year-old Sibora Gagani shortly after her ex-boyfriend confessed to killing her in May.
The body of another mysterious woman has been discovered after being buried in an apartment block wall for more than seven years.
Bodycam footage has been released showing Queensland Police making the shocking discovery in a basement in Brisbane, Australia.
And last year a body was found in the concrete wall of a popular bar in a French holiday hotspot.
The buried body was discovered in the L’Atrium bar in downtown Nice after police found traces of blood during a search of the premises.
