The video begins with vacationers relaxing by the pool luxury Lindos Imperial Resort and Spa, in Kiotari village.

But the “runaway” fire sparked a mass evacuation that forced at least 19,000 people to flee.

In the second part of the clip, the same pool area of the hotel is covered in ash while a few burned loungers can be seen in the background.

The hotel announced in a social media post that those who still have belongings at the property could pick them up.

A statement said: “The safety and well-being of our guests and staff is our top priority and we have taken this precautionary measure to ensure the safety of all.”

“We would like to emphasize that we are in constant contact with the local authorities and are closely monitoring the situation.”

“Rest assured, we are taking all necessary measures to handle the situation responsibly and to ensure a safe environment for everyone.”

“During this challenging time, we would like to express our deepest gratitude for your understanding and support.”

Firefighters on the island are still battling the blazes as thousands of people have been forced to evacuate burning hotels while tourists on evacuation flights have been desperate to get home.

Rhodes Deputy Mayor Konstantinos Taraslias said the fires were still out of control after seven days of fighting.

He said thousands of people needed to be evacuated and sheltered as the flames swept through tourist hotspots.
