Shooting, police chase shut down eastbound 10 Freeway in Redlands

All lanes of the eastbound Freeway 10 in Redlands were closed Tuesday night after a shooting in Fontana and a subsequent police chase.

A SigAlert closing lanes on Tennessee Street would be in effect for an unknown duration, according to the California Highway Patrol. Traffic was diverted onto the 210 Freeway.

The Times was unable to immediately reach a Fontana police spokesman to confirm information about the shooting or pursuit.

According to KABC-TV Channel 7, the shooting and the chase happened after officers attempted to conduct a vehicle stop on the 15 Freeway at Sierra Avenue.

It was unclear whether the police or the suspect fired shots, the station reported. The chase ended when officers performed a PIT maneuver and hit the rear of the fleeing vehicle, causing it to skid.

According to the broadcaster, the authorities requested an ambulance for the driver and a passenger. Her condition was unknown.

Further information was not immediately available.
