Silkk The Shocker: Jay-Z Turned Down $100,000 For A Verse!!

No Limit rapper Silkk The Shocker says Jay-Z once turned down $100,000 for a guest verse.

Silkk wanted Jay on his Man Man album…but Jay refused…not even for that amount of money.

“Our relationship was awesome because when I did the song with him I thought I had a budget for him. I thought, “Yo, I’ve got a hundred racks”… that’s a lot of money back then too! I’m sure he could have used the extra $100,000; Who isn’t going to use that?” he said on The Art of Dialogue.

“When I spoke to him, I was like, ‘Yo, that song is great, you killed him. Where should I send the bread?’ Jay said, ‘No, it’s good, man. Just keep it and we’ll come up with something later.””

Silkk respected Jay’s decision as an artist, although he was keen to have him on the track.

“But he won’t do it for anyone; he doesn’t even make music for anyone. What I learned was that it’s bigger than [money] for him,” he added. “For me, that’s consistent with [where he is] today … if you look at him, it’s no coincidence that he’s successful,” he added. “I don’t care how rich you are, you’ll be like, ‘Man, send my bread.’ But he was just dead cool. He doesn’t even doubt it: ‘Yes, send me half of it.’ The good thing is, bottom line, I kind of did something for him and I just thought it was solid.”

Silkk The Shocker was one of No Limit Records’ most popular rappers and is the brother of its founder, Master P.
