Singer Gayle weighs in on Taylor Swift-Ticketmaster debacle

Gayle has some thoughts on Ticketmaster’s Eras Tour disaster.

Last week’s ticket sales fiasco was still on everyone’s lips as the “abcdefu” singer walked the red carpet at Sunday’s American Music Awards peppered with questions about Taylor Swift’s record-breaking tour — and the frustration of buying tickets so quickly became his trademark.

“I don’t even have a ticket, they’re just letting me on stage,” Gayle quipped in an interview with Fox News Digital, appearing to mock the “multiple bear attacks” Swift has used to characterize her fans’ shopping experience over the past few weeks.

Gayle is one of five support acts the “Anti-Hero” and “Lavender Haze” singer has teamed up with for the Eras tour, which begins in March. (Gayle will join Swift for two of her five LA shows at SoFi Stadium in Inglewood on August 5 and 9.)

When asked by Entertainment Tonight what she would say to disappointed Swifties who were unable to secure tickets to the shows due to “unprecedented demand,” Gayle replied, “Love you and thank you for possibly being a fan of mine. “

“And hopefully you can watch over the internet,” she added.

As a precaution, Ticketmaster has canceled public advance sales for the stadium tour “due to exceptionally high demands on ticketing systems and insufficient remaining ticket stock to meet this demand”. A day later – and amid investigations by ticketing conglomerate Live Nation – Swift said 2.4 million people had secured tickets for the twice-expanded tour, and shared her disappointment at the “agonizing” experience her fans went through. to get tickets.

Swift hired the self-proclaimed Swiftie shortly after they met, and both were honored at the NSAI Awards in September. At the time, the 18-year-old was being recognized by the songwriting organization in the 10 Songs I Wish I’d Written category, and honored Swift with Songwriting Artist of the Decade. Swift saw them play and it snowed afterwards.

The two reunited earlier this month at the MTV Europe Music Awards for the first time since Gayle was announced as part of the Eras tour.

“I have to congratulate her on winning all these incredible awards,” Gayle told ET. “She has so many awards to win tonight [at the American Music Awards]which I’m so excited for… I’ve never been able to personally thank her for putting me on the tour.”

Swift won six awards at the American Music Awards in Los Angeles on Sunday night, breaking her own record for most wins with 40 total.

“The last thing she said to me when we first met was, ‘See you again,'” Gayle said. “And then the first thing she said to me was, ‘I told you I would see you again!'”

And they did it again and again. The pair were snapped with singer Sabrina Carpenter (who presented with Swift during Sunday’s American Music Awards at LA’s Microsoft Theater), which she gushed about on Instagram Stories shortly after. Singer Gayle weighs in on Taylor Swift-Ticketmaster debacle
