Sony’s LinkBuds S are cheaper than ever ahead of Prime Day

It was released less than two months ago, but you can already pick up the true wireless earbuds on Amazon for a solid discount. Shortly before they are . That’s a 22 percent drop from its regular price of $200. It’s the lowest price we’ve seen for LinkBuds S so far, and the discount applies to both white and black variants.

The LinkBuds S have a more standard closed design than the open carry style of the Sony that launched earlier this year. The company claims the newer model is smaller and lighter than other active noise-cancelling earbuds (although it admits the ANC isn’t as robust as its WF-1000XM4 model).

The earbuds also feature a pass-through/transparency mode, allowing you to hear “natural” ambient sounds. With the Adaptive Sound Control feature, Sony says the LinkBuds S can learn your preferences over time and automatically adjust sound settings based on your location or activity.

They have 5mm drivers which Sony says offer “powerful bass and stunningly clear vocals”. With the integrated processor V1, which can also be found in Sony’s WH-1000XM5 headphones, the company aims to improve sound quality, soften distortion and strengthen ANC. There’s also support for high-resolution audio, powered by Sony’s LDAC codec and DSEE Extreme upscaling.

In addition, LinkBuds S feature Sony’s Speak-to-Chat feature. The idea is that the earbuds can automatically recognize your voice. They pause the audio and turn on passthrough mode when you start speaking. There is also a feature called Auto Play. This allows LinkBuds S to play or resume audio based on your activity when making or ending a call. The functionality is first though – it currently works with Spotify and Endel.

Elsewhere, the earbuds have an IPX4 water resistance rating, so they should stand up to inclement weather and exercise. There is also a built-in Alexa feature.

According to Sony, the LinkBuds S have a battery life of six hours when ANC is switched on. Thanks to the charging case, you get an additional 14 hours of ANC listening time. A quick charge feature gives you up to an hour of extra use after a five-minute charge.
