SpArc Studio at Cherry Street Pier helps families with disabilities find work through art

PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) — SpArc Philadelphia has been serving families with disabilities for nearly 75 years at the organization’s North Philadelphia home.

In 2020 they opened SpArc Studio on Cherry Street Pier.

The space offers members the opportunity to create art projects for sale to the public.

One of SpArc’s primary missions is to help people with disabilities find employment.

The art studio has done just that, with resident artists earning a large percentage of every sale they make on Cherry Street Pier.

The organization takes a percentage to cover the cost of supplies.

The art studio not only offers jobs, but also freedom and creativity for the residents.

They have professional instructors teaching them how to work and create in the studio.

The shop includes everything from greeting cards and jewelry to paintings and pens.

An art exhibition will be held at Cherry Street Pier on August 5, 2022, where residents will exhibit their work.
