Spellmark curse status and Guiltless Shards guide

After your first death in Salt and Sacrifice, you’ll wake up in Pardoner’s Vale, the center of the game. Oddly enough, you’ll notice that a chunk of your HP bar is blue. Looks like you were affected by a debuff. This is ours Salt and Sacrifice guide to help you remove Spellmark curse status using Guiltless Shards.

Note: We will have a Salt and Sacrifice Tutorials and central features soon, so stay tuned.

Salt and Sacrifice – How to remove Spellmark curse status using Guiltless Shards

Spellmark curse in Salt and Sacrifice is an HP debug. About a quarter of your max HP is cursed, so you won’t always be able to fully recover. Think of it as if you just hugged Elden Ring.

Anyway, you can get rid of this by looking for Guiltless Shards. Once you have that, open the consumables tab in your inventory and equip it. It will then appear in the item bar and it can be used when selected.

Note: Although you will have the full HP bar when you use it, your character will still be Spell Marked again if you die. My advice is to only use the item if you’re well prepared for a boss fight, not when you’re just jumping puzzles or when you’re exploring the nooks and crannies.

You will be able to pick up your first two pieces of sin in Salt and Sacrifice by going to the left side of Pardoner’s Vale.

Open the chest behind the reindeer in the barn to get the item.

While you can find a few in some chests/bags later on, the most common way to get more Guiltess shards is Salt and Sacrifice is by fighting magicians:

  • The Mage hunt you start will have you chasing a target. That boss will spawn mobs that have a chance to drop sin shards (they have a golden glow as you can see in the next image).
  • Even if you don’t have an active Mage Hunt, the random bosses you encounter in the areas are still surrounded by hordes of them.
  • You can also conduct the Hunt of Fate if you want to fight a specific enemy, although regular enemies can drop them.

Note 1: While this is just based on my experience, I’ve noticed that enemies spawned in the first two zones drop more sin shards than enemies in the latter areas.

Note 2: Currently, I’m not sure if your item find stat (i.e. luck) affects the drop rate.
