This is the sequel to 2018’s Marvel’s Spider-Man, which gave us a fresh look at Peter Parker, Doc Ock, and other iconic characters. Insomniac proved it was more than capable of handling Spidey games, so much so that Sony gave the green light for a sequel. It was fully announced in late 2021 and teased some new villains. Of course, we’ve also got Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales to get ahead of us, and it looks like Miles will be a core character going forward.

While we’ve only really seen a reveal trailer so far, there’s actually a surprising amount of information about it. Spider-Man 2. We know what platforms it’s coming out on, what villains it’ll be on, and roughly when it’ll be out. It will certainly expand upon the original, even allowing players to play as both Peter and Miles throughout the story. Spider-Man 2 release date for PS5

Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 will be released in 2023. This is the only information we have so far, with more details likely to come this year. For that original Spiderman launched in September 2018, we could see its sequel next. We’ll have to wait and see what Insomniac has planned.

Is Venom in the game?

One of the most exciting revelations from the first trailer shown to Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 none other than Venom. He appears right at the end, dashing out of a dark alley to face Miles and Peter. The Spider-Man logo is then displayed against a black background, certainly a nod to the symbiote black Spider-Man suit from the comics. It’s clear that Venom will play an important role here, and maybe we’ll see Peter fight the symbiote. Insomniac drafted Candyman actor Tony Todd to voice Venom, giving it a vintage feel that might remind you of Venom in the cartoon.

One thing to keep in mind is when Marvel’s Spider-Man ended, there are post-credits teasers. One person saw Harry Osbourne floating in a tank that looked like a black sticky goo. Maybe Norman Osbourne created the symbiote to save his son? Is that Harry in there? Time will answer.

What villains might there be?

So we know that Venom will be in Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, but who else? First, Peter Parker could end up being a villain, if Venom gets his way. There’s also a voiceover throughout the trailer that sounds a lot like Kraven the Hunter. He’s an absolute fan favorite, so we’re hoping he’s actually part of the next game. Aside from those two, we don’t have much else to go on. Marvel’s Spider-Man the end credits seem to establish Norman Osbourne as a villain, and there are numerous references to villains like Morbius throughout the game. Then there’s Black Cat, who has some equipment time in City That Never Sleeps DLC. Can she come back? We think it’s very likely.

Is Spider-Man 2 coming to PS4?

One of the main questions on everyone’s lips after the reveal Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 is whether the game will make it to PS4. As confirmed in a PlayStation Blog post, it’s ‘only for PlayStation 5 consoles.’ This could rule out a PS4 release, which makes sense that Sony will want to push the PS5 from now on.

Latest trailer

You can check out the latest trailer below. It shows Miles and Peter fighting off the bad guys, before Venom makes a rather spooky appearance.

Can you play as Miles?

Since the release of Insomniac Spider-Man: Miles Morales, obviously Miles is a big part of the universe it created. The trailer features both Spider-Man equally, although we still don’t know for sure which character the player will control. In the first game, the player controls Peter, Mary Jane, and Miles, so it should come as no surprise that there are multiple playable characters here. We will update when we know more.

Will it be co-op?

We still don’t know if Spider-Man 2 will feature co-op. We bet both Peter and Miles are playable, although it’s unlikely that there will be co-op functionality in the main game. We’ll update if we know otherwise.

Iron-Spider Suit

Finally, we get our first look at a possible new suit that Peter’s Spider-Man will wear Spider-Man 2. In the trailer, you can see Peter wearing an Iron-Spider suit. While this is the first game, the metal legs only feature as a strength of the suit. As shown in the trailer, the Iron-Spider suit could be made more prominent and would be a great way to make Miles and Peter feel like different playable characters.
