Squishmallow fanatics will love this new cottagecore exploration game

Oh, a giant spherical frog soaking in a puddle of crystallized water. I’ll never know that fun with my own eyes, but at least games like Puff Pals: Island Skies can take me into that world. In this adorable game, you can discover and make friends with animals, such as a giant frog the size of a rock.

We have giant amphibians and more in Cool WIP, a compilation of Polygon’s eye-catching weekly clips and screenshots of the works in progress. Each week, Polygon staff scour the internet for the most exciting games still under construction to provide you with a sampling of the hottest projects coming out.

This week we have a stealth game with a raccoon, a decker with sea creatures, an adorable trading sim and a very wiggly caterpillar.

These animals look like Squishmallows

Developer Fluffnest posted a clip from his dreamy farming and exploration game Puff Pals: Island Skies. The creatures are adorable and look like the famous Squishmallows stuffed toy with its plump and rounded design. Previous trailers show farming and exploring its brilliant world, but one New clip shown a friend you might meet while exploring: a giant frog just prowling. Puff Pals Currently in development, and you can see everything planned on the game’s Kickstarter page.

Just a raccoon roaming trash

Christian Sparks is a digital artist and game developer creating a game called Snaccoon. Sparks posted a small scene showing a panda, affectionately known as “the trash panda,” walking through a street. In a developer blog, Sparks says it’s part of an ongoing side project, which is an exploration and stealth game where you play as a creature. The animation looks absolutely adorable and shows the panda galloping down the street. You can follow Spark’s work on Twitter.

Fight it like beautifully designed sea creatures

Astrea: The six-faced god combines dice and deck building mechanics with spoofing. The game, created by Little Leo Games, features fighters inspired by sea creatures such as squid, sea cucumber, crab, etc. The character designs are excellent, so if you are a big fan of the game. or enjoy deck building, be sure to check it out. A clip from the developer shows a giant, ax-wielding hammerhead shark facing a mysterious, cloaked squid. You can find more information about the game on its Steam page.

From now on I will only travel in a giant shark shaped balloon

Townseek is a trading sim where you go around the map to trade and discover new towns. Developed by Whales and Games, its art style makes the whole game look like an adorable coloring book. From the looks of it, you can even change the plane you use to move around; however, I am part of the shark figure. You can catch updates about Developer’s Twitter account.

wiggle wiggle wiggle wiggle wiggle wiggle, yes

It’s been a big couple of weeks for these process-generated creatures. Last week, we saw a game that merges monsters procedurally. And this week, we have a procedurally animated caterpillar. One clip from a developer named Joe shows the animal squirming on its way up and around tree branches. Joe’s page is full of other creepy crawl stuff, so check out his Twitter page for more much of his work.
