Stephen A. Smith Says Kaepernick Isn’t NFL Ready

Stephen A. Smith believes Kaepernick is not ready to return to the NFL.

“He throws deep balls at wide receivers who don’t have corners, no safes to defend against them. After 6 years away from football, we just sat down and thought, “Yeah man. He should be in the NFL,” Smith said.

Raiders coach McDaniels declined to discuss signing Kap.

“As is normal, we’re only going to talk about the people who are on our team,” McDaniels said. “[General manager] David [Ziegler] and his staff trained tons of people this spring and we really don’t comment on the ratings we’ve made; or what they looked like, what they didn’t look like.

“They’re kind of private to us as we look at things to try and make decisions to make the team better.”

He added: “If there is an opportunity to improve the team, we said from Day 1 that we would look at every opportunity. He’s not the first player we’ve looked at, and he won’t be the last. There will be a lot of people going in and out of this building. … The evaluations we make are private to us, and if we make a decision to add someone to the team, we will do it.”
