Stephen Colbert blasts Meta’s plans to reinstate Trump on Facebook and Instagram

late show Host Stephen Colbert has slammed Meta for his decision to allow Donald Trump back on Facebook and Instagram two years after his suspension for inciting a violent riot. Apparently, Meta believes the public safety risk of Trump’s social media posts has “reduced sufficiently.”

“The risk has gone down because he’s gone!” Colbert disagreed. “‘You know, between stabs, Jack the Ripper is a pretty cool dude. Give him back the knife.’”

To make a terrible situation worse, Meta also said it won’t check Trump because he’s running for president. If you can follow up on your posts on Truth Socials, it’s not going to end well. However, Colbert noted that Meta is imposing at least some restrictions on Trump and will temporarily suspend his account after just one policy violation instead of waiting for the fifth strike.

“The ex-president must follow Meta’s updated community guidelines, which prohibit violence and incitement, fraud and deception, and hate speech,” Colbert said. “So all the former president’s love languages.”
