Stephen King reveals his wife almost divorced him because of his mambo obsession #5

The author also shared what he likes to hear while writing his novels.
StephenKing has written about a lot of messed up, scary things, but what caused his wife Tabitha to threaten divorce wasn’t one of his terrible novels, but Lou Bega’s “Mambo No. 5.”
In one (n Interview with Rolling Stone, When asked if the rumors about his obsession with the song were true, the author revealed that his love for the song almost ruined his marriage.
“Oh yeah. Big deal,” King said. “My wife threatened to divorce me. I played that a lot.”
“I had the dance mix,” he continued. “I loved these expanded toys and played both sides of them. And one of them was just instrumental. And I played the thing until my wife just said, ‘One more time and I’ll f— I’ll leave you.'”
King revealed that this happened as he was writing 11/22/63, which was published in 2011. And although he calls himself “Mambo No.

“When I write, there are things I can listen to a lot,” King said. “And a lot of it is techno or disco stuff, but especially techno. There’s this group called LCD Soundsystem and I love that. Fatboy Slim is someone else. I can just listen to this stuff.”
“If you tried to write and listen to Leonard Cohen, how the hell would you do it?” King continued. “Because you would have to listen to the words and what he says. But with some techno stuff or KC and the Sunshine Band, Gloria Gaynor, it’s all good.”
“Lately I think I’ve kind of gotten stuck with Foghat and Bob Seger, people like that,” he said of his recent musical tastes. “But I also listened to quite a lot of country music. So a lot of Travis Tritt and Alan Jackson, people like that.”
King’s latest novel, Hollyhit shelves earlier this week.
