Stephen Marley’s son Jo Mersa was a loving father to his young daughter

Bob Marley’s grandson and Stephen Marley’s son, Jo Mersa, has reportedly died at the age of 31. The Jamaican singer’s mother is identified as Kerry.
TMZ reports that Joseph, who went by the stage name Jo Mersa, passed away on Tuesday, December 27, 2022 from asthma-related conditions. At the time of writing, no further details regarding his death have been given.
His death at a young age came as a shock to the reggae community and his fans around the world. Jo’s death was also confirmed by the Jamaican-English e-paper Jamaica Gleaner.
Stephen Marley’s son lived in the United States
Jo was born in 1991 and spent his early years in Jamaica. He attended Saints Peter and Paul Preparatory School but then moved to Florida for high school.
Daily Mail reports that Jo studied engineering at Miami Dade College. He was living in the United States at the time of his death.
He was one of Stephen’s many children. He shared Jo with Kerry, who is identified as his mother.
Stephen was the fourth-born child and second-born son of Bob Marley. He started making music at the age of seven.
Jo’s Instagram posts reveal that his father served as a producer on some of his music, including a song dedicated to his daughter. Stephen is also an eight-time Grammy Award winner.

Jo Mersa was a father himself
Aside from his music, Jo’s Instagram features a lot of pictures of his little girl.
Not only was every moment they spent together precious to the doting dad, but the singer also joked that his six-year-old daughter was growing up too soon.
He posted a picture on her birthday in January with an adorable caption that read, “Wishing my princess. Sunshine. A blessed earthy one! 6 years old now Jah! Father time, please take your time please.”
You can also find plenty of pictures of his baby mama, and in a 2019 post, he refers to her as his “wife.”
The Jamaican singer had a huge following on Instagram with more than 105,000 followers.
Tributes are pouring in for Bob Marley’s grandson
Jamaican Minister Olivia Grange has offered her condolences to Jo in a statement following Jo’s death.
It read: “We were honored by Joseph, whose stage name was Jo Mersa, who performed at our launch of Jamaica 60 in Miramar, Florida, USA in May this year. My deepest condolences to Stephen, Jo’s mother, Kerry, the Marleys and other family members. My deepest sympathy goes out to Joseph’s friends and staff and to the reggae music brotherhood and fans everywhere.”
Several famous artists have also paid tribute to the singer on his Instagram.
CeCile wrote: “SIP king. Condolences to his father, all his family, all his friends and fans. A my yute dis enuh. Jah know I feel it I can’t imagine how great her loss is.
Walshinho said, “Jah knows. His talent and intelligence were insane. i love you king I’m so glad I got the chance to work with you.”
“Jah know bro, can’t believe that. Rest in peace, my condolences to your family,” Shifta wrote.
