Storm lose to first place Chicago

CHICAGO (AP) — Allie Quigley scored 18 points, Emma Meesseman had 16 points, 10 rebounds and six assists and Chicago Sky defeated the Seattle Storm 78-74 for their fifth straight win on Wednesday.

Chicago (20-6) secured a playoff spot with their 20th win of the season.

Meesseman made a reverse layup to put Chicago 76-72 ahead and Kahleah Copper snagged an offensive rebound on Sky’s next possession before making one of two free throws for a five-point lead. After a timeout, Breanna Stewart laid up with 10.7 seconds left to take Seattle to three points, but Copper went 1-2 from the free-throw line at the other end.

Copper finished with 11 points and eight rebounds for Chicago. Candace Parker had 10 points and eight rebounds. Chicago missed guard Courtney Vandersloot with concussion.

Stewart led Seattle (17-9) with 24 points. Jewell Loyd added 18 points, Tina Charles had 11 points and six rebounds, and Sue Bird had nine points.
