‘Stranger Things’ Season 5 Spoilers — Spinoff Confirmed by Duffer Bros

Season 4 Part 1 of stranger things won’t drop until the early hours of Friday morning, but the Duffer Brothers are already whetting the appetite for the fifth and final season her beloved Netflix series. The Finale of Part 2 (coming Friday, July 1st) will slot “right” into the show’s final season, they told our sister site diversity.

“During the six-month pandemic hiatus, we outlined Season 5 and introduced Netflix,” they continued. “Everyone there was also there when we presented the show for the first time in 2015. If we were strangers then, we were friends now, and when it was over there were many tears.”

For better or for worse, that end will come sooner rather than later. “Don’t hold us to that, hold us to the gap [between Seasons 4 and 5] should be a lot shorter this time,” they said, “as we already have a first draft and we can’t imagine there will be another six-month forced break.”

However, the conclusion of stranger things‘Five Season Run isn’t necessarily that ultimate finish line. “We have an idea for a spin-off that we’re really excited about … but we haven’t told anyone about the idea, let alone written it,” the Duffers admitted. “We think everyone – including Netflix – will be surprised when they hear the concept because it’s very, very different.

“But somehow,” they added, “Finn Wolfhard (Mike) – who’s a crazy smart kid – guessed right what it was going to be about. But nobody knows except Finn!”
