Strictly the 2023 leaderboard: The latest results from the BBC dance competition
Be sure to come dance is back and moving on, with another group of celebs busting out their moves on the famous dance floor.
The BBC reality series kicked off its 21st series in earnest on Saturday September 23, with contestants including Angela Rippon, Bobby Brazier and Les Dennis vying for the Glitterball trophy.
Tess Daly and Claudia Winkleman present the series, while the judging panel returns including Craig Revel Horwood, Motsi Mabuse, Anton Du Beke and head judge Shirley Ballas.
In the course of the first episode, Rippon – who at 78 is the oldest candidate – speaks Strictly History – emerged as a potential front-runner, as did soap star Brazier and actors Ellie Leach, Layton Williams and Amanda Abbington.
However, it was the final dance of the evening, performed by actor Nigel Harman, that earned him first place from the judges.

For the series, Love Island Star Zara McDermott is paired with professional dancer Graziano Di Prima. Abbington is partnered with professional dancer Giovanni Pernice and Rippon with Kai Widdrington.
Williams forms the show’s only same-sex duo with partner Nikita Kuzmin, and revered host Krishnan Guru-Murthy is paired with a professional dancer Lauren Oakley. Comedian Eddie Kadi danced with professional Karen Hauer, while Irish presenter Angela Scanlon performed with Carlos Gu.

Emmerdale Star Adam Thomas performed the first dance of the series with pro partner Luba Mushtuk; Host Nikita Kanda is paired with professional dancer Gorka Márquez. Leach is the partner of professional dancer Vito Coppola.
Distinguished Paralympian Jody Cundy is paired with dancer Jowita Przystał and Brazier is paired with Dianne Buswell. Harman is matched with Katya Jones and Annabel Croft is matched with Johannes Radebe. Dennis is paired with professional dancer Nancy Xu.
