Sum 41 disbands after 27 years

They still have a new album and one final tour planned before they call it quits for good.
The rock band Sum 41 from the early 2000s will soon be gone.
The group – consisting of frontman Deryck Whibley (pictured), Dave Baksh, Tom Thacker, Jason McCaslin and Frank Zummo – announced their breakup in a statement shared on social media on Monday.
“Being with Sum 41 since 1996 has given us some of the best moments of our lives. We are forever grateful to our old and new fans who have supported us in every way. It’s hard to express the love and respect we have for you all and we wanted you to hear that first from us,” they wrote.
“Sum 41 will disband. We will be completing all of our current tour dates later this year and look forward to releasing our latest album ‘Heaven :x: Hell’ along with a final headlining worldwide tour to celebrate. They continued. “Details will be announced as soon as we have them.”
“Right now we look forward to seeing you all Skumfuks on the streets and excited to see what the future holds for each of us,” the statement concluded.
While they formed in 1996, Whibley is the only member of the original line-up still with the band. However, both Baksh and McCaslin followed shortly thereafter and were featured on the group’s 2001 breakout album All Killer No Filler. Thacker joined the band in 2007 before Zummo joined the line-up in 2015.
Some of the Canadian band’s biggest hits in the US include “Fat Lip,” “In Too Deep,” “Motivation,” and “Still Waiting.”
Their last album “Order in Decline” was released in 2019.
