Skin color is nothing new these days. In fact, it appears that many skin tones (formerly known as tinted moisturizers) are more popular than the foundation products that hit the market later this year. And it’s not just the hot summer months. People are looking to see more of their skin and are less afraid of pores, red spots and breakouts. And the best skin tone isn’t just an absolute foundation. With so many launches, we wanted more from our lightweight coverage. That’s where Summer Fridays’ Sheer Skin Tint with Hyaluronic Acid + Squalane comes in.

It makes sense that a famous skin care brand would make a great skin tone. That’s because they’ll infuse skin care ingredients into the product so you not only get an even skin tone, but those nourishing benefits as well. In a word, its first step in makeup contains tiger grass to help reduce redness, a humectant blend (glycerin and hyaluronic acid) to help plump wrinkles and support the moisture barrier. skin, and is rich in emollients (squalane, vitamin E, safflower and avocado oils) to lock in moisture.

Summer Friday.

There are 10 sheer shades to choose from, a low number that worried me at first until I saw how amazing the formula really is. Each shade will suit a variety of skin tones. (However, a few more in-depth options would be even better.) I’ve also heard concerns about the fact that for the hefty $42 price tag, there’s no sunscreen in the formula. That doesn’t bother me here. I prefer to have skincare ingredients rather than SPF in a skincare product. Here’s why.

Skin tones with SPF are great to have but they give a false sense of security. Chances are, you haven’t applied enough product to really protect your skin from UVA/UVB rays, and you certainly won’t reapply during the day. That’s why I also recommend using sunscreen under any skin product – even lotion with SPF. So basically, you’ll have to wear one.

I wear light skin tone, natural finish and really love how it covers my redness and reduces my dark circles while still letting my freckles shine through. It’s perfect for those who don’t like the feel of foundation. Feel like you’re wearing nothing but a little moisturizer. And when it comes to makeup, I couldn’t ask for more.
