Sunbreak event reveals gameplay and monsters

The Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak Expansion drops for over a month, and Capcom just hosted a brand new digital event to keep players engaged until then. Going on for a little over 15 minutes, the digital event revealed quite a bit of new information, including a monster returning in the form of Seregios, two new subspecies, and a bunch of new gameplay mechanics.

First introduced as the top monster of Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate, Seregios provides a formidable challenge for players unfamiliar with its behavior. It attacks the player erratically, and it can fire deadly Blades that can cause a “bleed” state to those who can’t dodge them.

The Aurora Somnacanth marks the first of several new subspecies introduced in the event, and it promises to provide a tougher challenge than the original Somnacanth. The standard variant spews a drunken mist that puts the player to sleep, but the Aurora Somnacanth imbues that mist with an icy property that has more immediate effects on those who encounter it. Meanwhile, Magma Almudron adds a fiery kick to the mud attacks that Almudron originally possessed, as its name suggests.

New ways to hunt

As for the new mechanic, Skill Switch promises to give players even more flexibility while hunting, as it allows them to equip two different loads of the Switch Skill and change them when are hunting. The player is not powerless to change the Transform Skill, as they can Switch the Dodge Skill while doing so to avoid being interrupted by the monster’s potential.

These notices represent only some of the notices given in Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak digital events. Those interested in learning more about the upcoming expansion, including additional information regarding the flagship monster Malzeno, can check out the full digital event below.
