Super Bowl 2023: Andy Reid impersonator weighs in on the big Eagles-Chiefs matchup

PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) — Steve Odabashian thought he was done being an Andy Reid impersonator.

The longtime Eagles fan has impersonated the former Philadelphia Eagles head coach at football games, tailgates, even piano lounges and stand-up routines since 2002.

Reid left the Eagles after 14 years with the team to become the head coach of the Kansas City Chiefs. And so Odabashian withdrew his impersonation.

But now the two teams will face off at Super Bowl 57 for the Lombardi Trophy. And Odabashian has once again donned the headset and playbook for another try against his doppelganger.

“I think if the Andy Reid news cycle comes back up after a few years, I think it helps. You see my personality,” Odabashian said as he donned Eagles coaching gear, a headset and a take-out menu in lieu of a playbook.

“It’s fun. He’ll want to beat the Eagles more than the Eagles team wants to beat him,” Odabashian said. “They’ve never been that bad for so long and with Andy they’ve had consistency. This team is totally different. This team believes in itself. And we’re not the underdogs this time and we shouldn’t be.”

Odabashian is the owner of Main Line Test Prep, an SAT tutoring service based in Paoli, Pennsylvania. He has become a coach himself, helping students to best tackle math problems before a major exam.

“I’m a coach now. I’m an SAT coach. A lot of it teaches people how to spot problems,” he says. “I have a lot of football students. I’ll let you know that if you see a specific setup on a math question, you should answer the following – just like a quarterback would see in certain situations. A lot of that is motivation for content and strategy.”

Odabashian has a legal and financial background. And he loves tutoring. He can finally empathize with what a head coach like Andy Reid went through all those years ago.

“You have to adapt to the players you have in front of you. Adjust constantly. Halftime adjustments without a halftime,” he jokes.

Odabashian also coaches basketball for second graders and has his hands full mentoring very young athletes and students.
