Super Nintendo World In The US Opens In Early 2023

Super Nintendo World opened at Universal Studios Japan last year, and word of mouth (and various YouTube videos with walkthroughs and more) says it’s a great addition to the theme park. Universal is clearly a fan of it, with Super Nintendo World expansions getting the green light at both Universal Studios Hollywood and Universal Studios Theme Park in Florida.

Now we know that the first Super Nintendo World in the US will open in Hollywood in early 2023. This news comes via the official Universal Studios Hollywood Twitter account, which today revealed the timeframe for early 2023, along with an image showing that Mario is no longer the little king he always was. Instead, he’s got extra long legs, which – I’ll be honest – aren’t right. Luigi is the big one, Universal! Not Mario!!

This Twitter account also posted a short teaser of the Mario Kart ride that will be featured at Super Nintendo World when it opens next year, and it looks fantastic. It contains not only traditional animatronics and in-ride sculpts, but also digital elements in the form of screens and some kind of special glasses. Universal says we’ll be able to “drive through legendary courses, throwing grenades and collecting coins to beat Team Bowser” in the ride.

While waiting for this theme park to open, read about Super Nintendo World, which has already opened in Japan, and then tour the park with Shigeru Miyamoto. Read how Universal Studios Japan and The Pokemon Company are teaming up to create a “revolutionary” theme park experience.
