SuperM, K-pop supergroup, announces 2023 comeback

We’re not even two days into 2023 and already K-Pop is bringing the hype.

SuperM, which formed in 2019 from four groups (SHINee, EXO, NCT, and WayV), has released a trailer for their “comeback” in 2023, K-pop news site Soompi reported.

The group formed in 2019 to be what their label SM Entertainment calls “The Avengers of K-Pop”. according to Forbes. That hype was justified when SuperM’s self-titled EP hit the market Billboard album chart at number 1 later in the year.

The original lineup of SuperM 2019 consisted of SHINee vocalist Taemin, EXO’s Baekhyun and Kai, NCT’s Taeyong and Mark, and Lucas and Ten, who are in both WayV and NCT.

Two members of the group taemin and Baekhyun, who was drafted into the South Korean military in 2021, which could affect when the actual comeback takes place. Also, Lucas did not appear on WayV’s latest release, the EP phantomwho has been separated from this group since August 2021, according to the site AllKPop.

The announcement was played as part of SM’s free concert, SMTown Live 2023: SMCU Palace @Kwangya on New Year’s Eve. according to Rolling Stone India.
