Suspect in killing of rapper PnB Rock is extradited to Los Angeles

A man wanted in connection with the killing of rapper PnB Rock, who was gunned down at Roscoe’s House of Chicken & Waffles in south LA last month, has been extradited to Los Angeles after his initial arrest in Las Vegas.

Freddie Lee Trone, 40, was booked into the LA County Jail on suspicion of murder at 3:16 p.m. Tuesday, records show. He is being held on $3 million bail. A arraignment date was not available Tuesday night.

Trone was arrested in Las Vegas on Sept. 29, according to Officer Tony Im, a spokesman for the Los Angeles Police Department.

The extradition comes three weeks after Shauntel Trone, 38, and a 17-year-old boy were arrested in LA County in connection with Rock’s killing.

Freddie Lee Trone and the teenager, who could not be identified because of his age, were charged with murder, robbery and conspiracy to commit robbery. Shauntel Trone is subsequently charged with robbery and aiding and abetting.

Freddie Lee and Shauntel Trone are married, Greg Risling, a spokesman for the LA County District Attorney’s Office, said after their arrest.

The teenager is the son of Freddie Lee Trone, according to law enforcement sources, who spoke to the Times on condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to discuss the investigation with the media. The teenager and Shauntel Trone are not related, Risling said.

Rock, 30, real name Rakim Allen, was with his girlfriend Stephanie Sibounheuang at Roscoe’s House of Chicken & Waffles on Manchester Avenue on September 12 when the attackers came to their table and demanded jewelry and other valuables. The jewelry was valued at “several hundred thousand dollars,” according to the criminal complaint.

While some have raised concerns that Rock may have been targeted after his girlfriend posted a picture to Instagram showing they were at the restaurant, law enforcement sources have told The Times that Freddie Lee Trone and his son were safe from all social media Media in the Roscoe’s parking lot were posts related to the rapper’s presence.

The teenager approached Rock wearing a mask, pointed a gun at him and shouted, “Now give me all your jewelry,” according to the complaint. Prosecutors allege he shot the rapper once in the chest while he was seated at a table and then twice more in the back.

Seconds later, the teenager reportedly threatened to shoot Sibounheuang in the head and took several pieces of jewelry from Rock’s body.

The killing sparked outrage from fans and community activists, who say violence at a popular restaurant is unacceptable.
