Target pulls popular candles off shelves after reports of cuts and burns
TARGET has recalled several fragrances of its Threshold candles.
The retailer withdrew several jars of the popular candles after reports of cuts and burns.

The owners of the candles are told to stop using them immediately.
The Consumer Product Safety Commission stated that the candle jar can crack or shatter with use.
The CPSC said Target received at least 137 reports of the glass breaking or cracking when the candle was lit.
Six injuries were reported, including lacerations and severe burns.
Recalled Candles
The recall affects almost 5 million Threshold candles.
The candles were sold in Target stores and on target.com.
It includes the Threshold Jar with 5.5 ounce single wick, 14 ounce three wick and 20 ounce three wick candles in different scents.
Target said the recalled item numbers were printed on the bottom of the jars.
Target said the following candles were affected:
- 5.5 oz. Apple Blossom and Breeze Candle – Threshold Glass Candle.
- 5.5 Ounce Glass Candle with Berry Lemonade and Melon – Threshold
- 5.5 Ounce Jar Coconut Sherbet Candle – Sill
- 5.5 Ounce Glass Candle with Red Tangerine and Guava – Sill
- 5.5 Ounce Charcoal & Black Teak Jar Candle – Threshold
- Berry Lemonade and Melon Candle in 20 Ounce Three Wick Jar – Threshold
- 20 Ounce Milky Glass Three-Wick Candle with Charcoal and Black Teak – Threshold
- 20oz Milky Glass Jar with Three Wicks, Peony & Cherry Blossom Candle – Threshold
- 20oz Milky Glass Jar with Three Wicks, Watermint and Eucalyptus Candle – Threshold

- 14oz amber glass jar with cracklewood lid with three wicks, applewood and amber candle – sill
- 14oz amber glass jar with cracklewood lid with three wicks, fennel and pine candle – sill

The candles were sold nationwide from August 2019 to March 2023.
The cost of the candles ranged from $3 to $20.
If you own one of the affected candles, the CPSC says you should stop using them immediately.
You can return them to any Target store for a full refund.
You can also contact Target for a prepaid return label to return the candles in the mail.
