Houston artist depicting powerful moments in black history

FRIENDSWOOD, TX– Ted Ellis uses his brush to tell the story of African Americans.

For more than 30 years he has portrayed everything from black figures to culture and religion.

Ellis, who hails from New Orleans, sees himself as a creative historian and says his goal is to educate through art.

He was named a National Juneteenth Art Ambassador and is currently the director of Southern University at the New Orleans Museum of Art.
