Teen boy, 15, run down and killed while walking on pedestrian crossing sparking air ambulance dash as cops launch appeal

A TEENA boy was run over and killed on a crosswalk – sparking a rescue helicopter attack as police called for help.

The 15-year-old boy was hit by a white Hyundai Ioniq around 11.45am in Thetford, Norfolk yesterday.

A rescue helicopter took care of the collision, but the boy was pronounced dead at the scene.

Norfolk Police said: “Police are appealing for witnesses after a 15-year-old boy died in a collision in Thetford yesterday.”

“The incident happened around 11.45am on London Road at the pedestrian crossing off Icknield Way when a white Hyundai Ioniq, traveling from the city center towards the A11, was involved in a collision with a pedestrian.

“Emergency services, including the rescue plane, were deployed and despite treatment, the teenager was pronounced dead at the scene.

“Police are interested in speaking to anyone who witnessed the collision or saw the vehicle or pedestrian prior to the incident.

“Officials are also interested in hearing from anyone who may have been in the area at the time who may have relevant dashcam footage.”

It is currently unclear whether the collision was a hit-and-run.

Norfolk Police have been contacted for further comment.
