Teen killed by driver in parking lot near Excel Academy South school in Philadelphia

PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) — Police are investigating after a teenager was hit and killed by a driver near a Philadelphia school.

It happened around 2:25 p.m. Wednesday outside Excel Academy South, which is located on the grounds of Friends Hospital at Block 4600 of E. Roosevelt Boulevard in Frankford.

According to the police, the officers found a 17-year-old woman who was unresponsive in the parking lot.

She was taken to a nearby hospital, where she later died.

According to the police, there was a violent argument with students in the parking lot.

At some point during the incident, an 18-year-old woman tried to get out of the area and then punched the victim, police said.

The driver stayed at the scene and cooperated with the police.

There was no word on whether charges would be filed.

The victim killed has not been identified.
