In the Wednesday episode of Teen Mom: The Next Chapterthe 35-year-old reality star broke down in tears when his parents confronted him about his ongoing problems following his recent arrest.
After his release from prison, Ryan sat down with his parents Larry and Jen, who said they had found a facility for him to seek treatment, with his mother stressing to her son that he “needed” help and “work hard” to make things change. Edwards agreed to go to rehab.

Ryan’s parents said they were “grateful” for his ex. Maci bookout, for being a “good support” to him in his dark times. Jen said Maci recently texted him: “Tell Ryan. He’s worth it.” That’s what Jen and Larry Ryan shared He must “believe” that he is worth it.
Then Larry punches Ryan where it hurts and tells him to think about his three kids. Edwards shares 15-year-old son Bentley with Maci, and Jagger, 5, and Stella, 3, with his estranged wife Mackenzie Edwards.
“Ryan, there’s Bentley, there’s Jagger, and there’s Stella — the love of your life,” Larry said. “You could someday experience the same things you are experiencing right now.”
“Think about what she might be going through,” he continued. “Think about where she might end up if you’re not there to protect her, because I won’t be here forever. Son, you need to start making some good decisions.”
Ryan choked on hearing his father’s words and nodded in agreement.
“Do you promise? Promise?” Larry said, to which Ryan replied, “Yes. I promise it.”

Elsewhere in the episode, Ryan approached Maci and asked her to meet him to talk. While at the restaurant, Edwards discussed his decision to go to a treatment center for 30 to 45 days, admitting he “don’t like it when I’m done.”
Ryan and Maci also agreed that the former would tell Bentley what was wrong with him before Bookout then raised concerns about Edwards’ mental health after saying his “chest was so tight.”
“Are you worried?” She asked Ryan, who replied, “F–k yes. I worry because either I’ve got damn court every day or you don’t know when the damn police are gonna knock on your door or “some cops–t.”
Maci mentioned that she had heard that Ryan was placed on “suicide watch” after his most recent arrest, noting that she was “really concerned” and that he “needed to talk to someone about it.”
“It would be devastating for a lot of people if you weren’t here,” she said. “I’d rather have you bother me, but be here than not.”
“So next time just give me a call,” she added while Edwards – who was clearly emotional – wiped away tears.

In a confessional, Maci also got emotional and burst into tears while discussing Ryan’s battle with addiction.
“I think since he’s an addict, obviously that’s a big mountain to climb,” she told the MTV cameras. “You’re always afraid the call will come that day or that night. … You’re just waiting for it to happen.”
Meanwhile, near the end of the episode, Ryan’s father dropped him off at the airport, where he left for Austin for rehab, before Edwards offered his thoughts in a confessional.
“I will not let this destroy my relationship with my children,” he said. “You do not deserve it. I’ll just keep going like this, it won’t destroy me. I’m still alive.”
The episode ended with a montage of the families at home and footage of Ryan driving to rehab for a breathalyser.
