A TEENAGER has was taken to hospital after he was allegedly stabbed in an attack in broad daylight.

Emergency services rushed to the scene of the accident in Johnstone, Renfrewshire at 12.25pm ​​yesterday afternoon.

Officers also responded to the area after receiving reports of an altercation near Thorn Court.

Shortly after arriving, they found an injured 16-year-old boy.

It is understood he suffered stab wounds as a result of the alleged disturbance.

He was rushed to hospital, but his current condition is not yet known.

Police arrested an 18-year-old man in connection with the alleged incident.

He was released pending further investigation.

A Police Scotland spokesman said: “At around 12.25pm ​​on Wednesday 13 September 2023, police were called to a report that a teenager had been injured in an altercation near Thorn Court, Johnstone.

“Emergency services attended the scene and the 16-year-old victim was taken to hospital for treatment.

“The investigation is ongoing.

“An 18-year-old was arrested last night but released pending further inquiries.”
