A SHOOTING has been reported at a Texas mall with multiple victims, including children, according to the Collin County Sheriff’s Office.
The sheriff’s office also confirmed to local ABC affiliate WFAA that the shooter is dead at the scene.
Police rushed to Allen Premium Outlets after receiving reports of a shooter around 3.30pm on Saturday.
ATF Dallas confirmed to WFAA that it was an “active shooting incident.”
At least nine victims were taken to nearby hospitals, Allen police confirmed.
The condition of the victims is currently unknown.
Police confirmed there is no longer an active threat and that multiple agencies are assisting the investigation.
Police officers arriving at the scene are equipped with long guns and handguns, the outlet reports.
Witnesses told the WFAA that the shooting took place near the mall’s Fatburger restaurant.
They also said that the shooter was dressed all in black.
One shopper told Fox 4 News that she was at the mall with her daughter when she “heard all this popping.”
“We saw sparks fly,” she added.
The shopper and her daughter ran into the Converse shoe store and were trapped inside, seeking shelter on the spot.
“We all sat in the back,” she said.
The witness added, “We just moved here so we’re very shattered.”
People on social media posted video of shoppers running from the scene with gunfire.
It has also been reported that Twitter users are desperately trying to connect with their loved ones at the mall.
Allen Premium Outlets is located approximately 28 miles northeast of Dallas, Texas.
There are over 115 stores in the mall.
Allen city officials urged residents to “please avoid the area until further updates.” tweet.
Officials speak of an “active investigation”.
EXECUTIVES AND CELEBRITIES REACT
Texas officials and several celebrities have responded to the recent shooting.
Governor Greg Abbott released the following statement: “Our hearts go out to the people of Allen, Texas tonight during this unspeakable tragedy.”
Republican Congressman Keith Self is representing Allen.
He tweeted: “We are devastated by the tragic news of the shooting that took place at Allen Premium Outlets today. Our prayers are with the victims and their families and all law enforcement agencies on the ground.”
Arizona Cardinals quarterback Kyler Murray attended high school in Allen.
“That is disgusting. Prayers to mass shooting victims in Allen, Texas. If there is anything I can do to help those affected by this tragedy, please let me know. When won’t this stop?” Murray tweeted.
