The BBC news anchor walked away with a “spoiled face” after a horrific accident while the make-up team struggled to cover the damage

BBC NEWSREADER Ben Thomas has shared shocking photos of his injured face after a horror accident.

The 41-year-old announced that his make-up team managed to cover up the damage in time.

Ben shared the photos with his 48,300 Twitter followers with the caption: “Before/After: A big thank you to our amazing makeup team at @BBCNews who had to transform my messed up face this morning after yesterday on the got off his bike on the way home.”

“(and yes, everything hurts)”

The BBC newsreader has been inundated with messages of support from fans and his colleagues.

BBC presenter Lukwesa Burak wrote: “Omg Ben! Are you otherwise okay? I got off the bike a few times – scary. I still have the fear and the sand in my thigh. Big hug. You are super talented. X.”

“Wow, they’re good!” added another person.

And a third wrote: “Hope you’re feeling better. It’s a big shock to get off your bike.”

Ben is best known for his role on BBC Breakfast and his extensive career as a journalist.

He first came to the BBC while still a student at Radio Wales in Cardiff in 2001 working on the morning news program Good Morning Wales.

He was then selected as a BBC trainee, where he worked in various areas of the newsroom.

Ben first joined BBC Breakfast in 2011 and is now presenter and co-presenter of Business Live, the BBC’s daily business programme

Before that, however, he had had an extensive career in various departments at the BBC.

In 2008 he appeared in front of the camera for the first time as a business correspondent for the Middle East.
