The Boys Episode 6: What happens at Herogasm?

Fear it, run away, Herogasm still arrives in The Boys Episode 6 as an event “not suitable for any audience”.

The Boys hasn’t held back with super-powerful sexual proclivities: we’ve seen a man’s head crushed like a watermelon by a woman sitting on his face; Homelander lasered Stormfront’s breasts and later masturbated over the New York skyline; and at the beginning of Season 3, the version of Ant-Man crawled into his friend’s penis, sneezed, and left him disemboweled.

However, there was still a lot of hype and trepidation surrounding the so-called Herogasm episode. To those unfamiliar with the comics, it just seems like a play on words; For those who’ve read the miniseries it’s based on, expectations have skyrocketed for an hour of explicit, liquid-filled debauchery.

This much we can say: It lives up to the hype, as showrunner Eric Kripke puts his very own spin on the infamous event. But what is Herogasm and what happens in the new episode?

Spoilers for Herogasm to come…

The boys: what is herogasm?

The Boys: Herogasm was the first of four miniseries released during Ennis’ run. It follows the guys as they sneak into a party for Vought-sponsored superheroes so they can sit back and relax for a week. There’s just one small detail: it’s actually a huge orgy.

While the general public thinks that all Supers band together to discuss global affairs or face a major threat together, they are actually on a remote tropical island and doing whatever they want, be it having as much sex as they like as they please, with other supers and sex workers, drug use or other taboo debauchery and acts of violence.

In an interview with TVLine ahead of the episode’s release, Kripke said it was “one of the more graphic hours of mainstream television that I think everyone will have seen,” and he was surprised by how much he could get away with. Just don’t expect a sex scene with Homelander and Soldier Boy.

The Boys: Where is Herogasm set in Episode 6?

While some have suspected Ashley’s earlier mention of a “Global Wellness Retreat in Malibu” as the setting for the series’ herogasm, it actually takes place elsewhere and is even more discreet than in the comics.

Episode 6 brings all the characters together at the Vermont home of the TNT Twins, former superheroes who served alongside Soldier Boy on his Payback team. We later find out that it was founded in 1952 by Soldier Boy and Liberty (Stormfront’s former name).

The Boys Episode 6 features the long-awaited Herogasm.

The Deep goes there to find Black Noir, who slashes his wrist and rips out his tracker upon learning Soldier Boy is alive. Starlight goes there with MM, who is on a vengeance trail against Soldier Boy for smashing a car through his house and killing his grandpa as a kid.

Butcher and Hughie – souped up on makeshift Compound V, of course – head there with Soldier Boy, who wants answers – and likely blood – from his ex-teammates, with the understanding that once the job is done he will kill Homelander.

The Boys: What’s happening at Herogasm?

Herogasm is teased before being fully unleashed on the audience. At first we only see The Deep’s reaction to the carnal chaos; and then Starlight and MM arrive, whereupon Love Sausage welcomes them and curls his huge, hideous appendage around them.

You could pause any frame of Herogasm and discover something different. Of course, a lot of people are muscular and have every conceivable form of sex – it’s an orgy, after all – but this is where superheroes get along, so there’s quite a bit of power to be used for pleasure.

MM opens the wrong door in Episode 6.

These include: a superhero with mind control abilities who gives multiple women orgasms at the same time; vibrators floating around the house; a woman tying up a man with her glowing lasso; flaming genitals; Icicle dildos shoved into ordinary sex workers “get banged…but not in a good way”; and enough semen to drown someone.

Remarkably, we see the return of Termite, the shrinking Supe from the grotesque opening of the first episode, who reappears covered in some sort of bodily fluid.

Starlight also finds The Deep getting a suction job from an octopus, takes a picture and threatens to mail it to Homelander.

Hughie confronts A-Train and Soldier Boy explodes

Outside of the sexual stuff, Hughie runs into A-Train at the party and demands that he apologize for obliterating Robin in the very first episode. While A-Train doesn’t seem to react well at first, he actually apologizes and admits how awful it must have been to lose someone like that, given the events of Episode 5.

Hughie can’t accept it and with Compound V’s safety net running through his veins, he punches A-Train in the face. “How did you do that?” he asks, obviously taken aback by Hughie’s sudden strength, but Starlight advises him to get out of there before it gets any worse.

Meanwhile, Soldier Boy confronts the TNT twins, who claim that the conspiracy against him was engineered by Black Noir. They weakly attempt to use their powers, only for Soldier Boy to fire off one of his cataclysmic bursts of energy.

The twins are killed instantly along with many others in Herogasm, while others are left crippled and bleeding. Love Sausage even walks with a charred penis around his neck.

Termite then lies outside, shrunken and desperately screaming for help in his high-pitched voice. However, when Homelander arrives to fight Soldier Boy, he stomps on him like a bug, causing a small eruption of blood under his shoe.

Episode 7 of The Boys arrives on Prime Video next Friday, July 1st.
