The holiday hotspot without the Brits but with quiet beaches and 24C winter weather – and breaks are just £154pp

IF you’re looking for some winter sun then there’s a great spot just a few hours from the UK.
Whilst most UK holidaymakers heading to Egypt visit Sharm El-Sheikh or Hurghada, there is also another place with warm winter weather and cheap breaks.
Located on Egypt’s Red Sea, just 19 kilometers from Hurghada, the resort of El Gouna is fast becoming a popular destination among British tourists.
The resort is just 30 minutes’ drive from Hurghada Airport and the flight time from the UK is less than six hours.
Wizz Air and easyJet offer direct flights from the UK to Hurghada Airport.
In winter, temperatures in El Gouna can reach as high as 24°C – making it an ideal place for vacationers.
It’s a relatively new tourist destination, developed in 1989 by Egyptian billionaire Onsi Sawiris. The resorts are spread across 20 artificial islands.
Today it is considered an affordable luxury resort and has a number of sandy beaches including Zeytuna Beach and Moods Beach.
In addition, in the resort there are not only beaches, but also over 100 bars and restaurants.
El Gouna also has 18 hotels including The Chedi, El Gouna, Cook’s Club, Casa Cook and the Steigenberger Golf Resort – many of which are four stars or higher.

While Arabic is the official language of Egypt, English is commonly spoken at the resorts.
The local currency is the Egyptian Pound (EGP) at £10 about 367 EGP.
You do not need to be vaccinated to visit El Gouna, but your passport must be valid for at least six months upon arrival.
To visit El Gouna you will need a visa which you will be given on arrival and costs around £10.
There are now numerous other holiday hotspots all over Europe away from the tourist crowds.
