The Home and Away guy is unrecognizable 19 years after his soap opera debut – and is quitting for a completely different career

19 years later, after quitting and getting a new job, the heartthrob from HOME and Away looks nothing like his role on the soap.

The actor is best known for appearing in the popular Australian TV show as Eric “Ric” Dalby, grandson of Alf Stewart and cousin of Martha MacKenzie.

He made his debut in the soap opera and in 2004 and made his final appearance in July 2008.

Mark Furze, 37, is unrecognizable almost two decades later after leaving Home and Away and the world of acting.

The star has also changed careers and become a musician.

His Instagram bio reads: “Musician/Band STONE LOVE – Vocals/Guitar.”

Mark recently released his album titled Stone Love which is a hybrid of indie pop music.

He took to Instagram and shared a photo of himself swimming in one paddling pool.

Mark captioned the post “Crocodile Infested Water.”

All fans rushed to leave their comments, with one writing: “Looking good mate.”

A second added: “Top caption. Haha.”

A third wrote: “You look so different from home and away days!”

Mark and his wife Laural gave birth to their first child, a baby girl named Soma, in 2022.

The former soap star also appeared on The Voice Australia in 2019.

Since launching in 1988, Home and Away has been a huge hit Down Under and in the UK.

Recently, another series favorite looked unrecognizable 28 years after starring on the show as a pregnant teenager.

Fans also couldn’t recognize Christopher Fletcher actor Shaun Wood due to his different looks.

Meanwhile, show legend Norman Coburn, who played fan-favorite Donald Fisher, also seems a complete contrast to his TV role.

It was recently said that after three decades on the small screen, the series was on the brink of collapse.

The show is currently airing on Channel Seven in Australia and Channel 5 here in the UK, but sources claim the Australian broadcaster’s bosses are “under pressure” after falling ratings.
