New images have revealed City Lido as part of Liverpool Street Station’s huge refurbishment project.

The pool, which is part of the £1.5billion refurbishment, will have four lanes and be outdoors.

However, excess heat from the offices is used to heat the pool all year round.

If the plans are approved next Year, start of construction is 2025.

The project also includes a new 16-storey tower with 10 office floors and six floors that will form the new Andaz Hotel.

A roof garden and café are also part of the design with views over the city and St Pauls.

The refurbishment was carried out by Herzog & en Meuron along with Sellar, Network Rail and MTR who operate the Elizabeth Line.

Still, the plans have been slammed by both locals and celebs Stephen Fry and Tracy Emin.

Opponents of the plan wrote in a letter: “To erect a 15-storey, insensitively designed tower directly on top of the listed former Great Eastern Hotel, thereby partially demolishing the listed railway station and overpowering the Victorian train sheds, is grossly opportunistic and wrong.

“The claim that a cantilevered building directly on top of a heritage site is somehow ‘preserved’ is nonsense and sets a dangerous precedent.”

However, Sellar Chief Executive James Sellar said: “Our entire approach prioritizes the protection and enhancement of the historical elements of both the Great Eastern Hotel and the station itself.

“The original Victorian railway sheds at Liverpool Street Station are not touched but celebrated by opening up new views of and through them.”

Elsewhere in the UK it is first “floating” sky pool in the worldwith a glass floor, but is only accessible to a select few.

The pool is between two blocks luxury Apartments in Nine Elms so only residents can use them.

The highest infinity pool in the world is located in Dubai, with a view from 965 feet.

And we rounded those up too best UK hotels with outdoor pools to make the best of what’s to come heat wave.
