The Kid Mero Addresses Desus Split: Everybody Grows

The Kid Mero finally addressed the split from his Bodega Boys co-host Desus Nice in an interview.

“It’s just a natural progression,” Mero told Keith McPherson. “It’s like we said on the podcast, ‘It’s Hollywood, baby.’ You develop strengths and things you want to explore and do. And then things just happen naturally. It’s like Spike Jonze said on the Viceland show, “Everything is finite.” What’s the cheesy cliché? Don’t be sad it’s gone. Be glad you experienced it.”

After the split, reports surfaced that Mero had decided to stand by her manager, who was accused of “bullying” Showtime employees.

“Everyone grows,” Mero said. “I’m sure D has his things he wants to get done. I have things I want to do. And they are very specific to us. We’ve been a duo for a long time. I love everything he has done. It’s just natural. I have my life, my worldview, my things going, and he has his. So it’s only right that instead of just being like, ‘We’re just going to do this one thing, we explore. let’s break out Let’s see what we do as individuals, and then shape up like Voltron later. Who knows?”
