‘The Mighty Ducks: Game Changers’: Lauren Graham, Josh Duhamel hit the ice for season 2 on Disney+

Josh Duhamel is joining the Disney+ series The Mighty Ducks: Game Changers as a new coach.

He is a former NHL player who runs an intensive summer hockey institute. Don’t you dare call it a camp!

Lauren Graham returns as a mother to one of the Ducks and is now the team’s companion as they travel from Minnesota to California. They think they’re going to some fun hockey camp, but they soon find that their new coach, played by Duhamel, is dead intense and focused. Graham says that in real life, Duhamel is nothing but fun.

“He’s someone I admired and was a fan of and we just had a great time together,” Graham said.

The series focuses on hockey, a sport Duhamel played as a child.

“You know, I’m from North Dakota. You have to play hockey when you grow up there. So I played until seventh grade, I hadn’t played for like 33 years,” he told Duhamel. “It was like picking it up again. It rekindled my love for the game. Now I feel like I can get back on the ice and not have to completely embarrass myself.”

Graham is excited about the chance to be mother hen again for this group of wannabe athletes. And yes, art mimics life.

“I love these children and worry that they will take their losses too seriously. I’m worried about this new challenge. This character is worried. And I only want what’s best for her,” Graham said. “And that’s true in real life too. We really bonded.”

Expect some bonding between the two main characters as the series progresses.

“It’s not an obvious romance that sparks,” Duhamel said. “But it’s a fun way in.”

The Mighty Ducks: Game Changers is now streaming on Disney+.

Disney is the parent company of this ABC channel.
