Politicians and litigators are raiding companies across the pharmaceutical supply chain like Bonnie and Clyde. Riding gun is a federal judge Dan Aaron Polsterwho ordered CVS on Wednesday, Walgreens and Walmart Paying $650 million to two Ohio counties to eliminate opioid abuse. Now to the next raid.
Judge Polster oversees some 3,000 opioid lawsuits filed by municipalities and their fellow litigators against drug manufacturers, distributors and retailers. His stated goal is to urge companies to write a big check to “do something meaningful to ease the crisis,” as he said at a 2018 hearing. “We don’t need a lot of briefings and we don’t need processes.”
