At the end of Thursday’s episode, presenter Alex Jones, 46, made the surprise announcement but gave no reason – which has certainly confused fans.

It’s not the first time lines have been crossed on the show this week.

Viewers were expecting to see Morgan Freeman as a guest earlier this week but had to cancel at the last minute.

The 86-year-old actor Morgan had been announced as a guest on the BBC show alongside Nicole Kidman, 56, and Zoe Saldana, 45, but was nowhere to be seen.

After the Hollywood stars promoted their new spy thriller Special Ops: Lioness, host Alex Jones, 46, was forced to address the elephant in the room.

She said: “Honestly we’ve seen a bit of it, it’s brilliant. Morgan Freeman, also in it. He wanted to come tonight so we’re disappointed he didn’t make it at the last minute.”

Despite his no-show, Nicole and Zoe have been pushing ahead with their latest project, which involves the CIA’s Lioness program.

The Sun then contacted Morgan’s representative and the BBC for comment – later revealing he had been suffering from an illness.
