The popular European holiday park that you’ve probably never heard of – & it’s £1k cheaper than Center Parcs

A family holiday can quickly get out of hand when it comes to expense, and some breaks cost thousands of pounds.
But a European holiday park offers a budget alternative that’s over £1,000 cheaper than Center Parcs.
Sunparks Kempense Meren is located east of Antwerp in Belgium.
The European Park is part of Sunparks – the little sister of the European Center Parcs.
Although the holiday parks are not close to the beach, they offer numerous water activities such as a subtropical swimming pool with slides and rapids.
There is also a heated outdoor pool with a sun terrace, jacuzzi and children’s paddling pool.
Other activities include archery, bowling, billiards and live music events.
Outdoor activities include archery battles, laser battles and paddleboarding.
For vacationers who enjoy nature, there are also forest bike paths and nature walks.
Other outdoor activities include mini golf and pedal boats.
There are also several restaurants on site, including a beach bar, a buffet restaurant, a pizzeria and a sports bar.
Sunparks Kempense Meren has a TripAdvisor rating of 3.5/5 stars based on 1,732 reviews.
One person wrote: “The kids loved the waves, the slides, the wild river and the outdoor pool. It’s a great place and very well maintained.”
Another added: “We spent a week here in an exclusive triple cottage with sauna. We have never been disappointed by Sunparks and we can never fault anything.”
However, other vacationers were not as impressed with the facilities, calling the park’s furnishings “dated”.
Someone wrote, “The common theme was that it was good but tired and I totally agree.”
Despite the mixed reviews, more than 930 holidaymakers gave the Belgian holiday park either four or five stars.
This was often due to the cheap prices of the park.
Sun Online Travel found a seven-night stay in a cottage in Kempense Meren on August 21 costing £800 for a family of four.
Meanwhile, a lodge at Center Parcs Sherwood Forest would cost £2,228 – more than £1,000 extra.
There are many accommodation options to choose from in the Kempense Meren, including holiday homes and hotel rooms.
For British holidaymakers wanting to visit, the easiest way to catch the European holiday is to take the ferry to Hook of Holland.

From there it is a two-hour drive to the site.
Sun Online Travel recently visited the holiday park earlier this year – and here’s what to expect.
