The Rolling Stones unveil their new single “Angry” with a music video by Sydney Sweeney at the opening of Hackney Diamonds

The Rolling Stones have released their upcoming album Hackney Diamonds with a music video starring Sydney Sweeney.
The rock band, which consists of Mick Jagger, 80, Keith Richards, 79, and Ronnie Wood, 76, hosted a event for the album at the Hackney Empire in east London on Wednesday (September 6). Hackney Diamonds Release is scheduled for October 20th.
Onstage, the Paint It Black band were interviewed by US talk show host Jimmy Fallon about the record and why it’s taken them 18 years to release a new album of original songs.
Fans were also shown a first look at the music video for “Angry,” which stars euphoria Actor Sweeney. The 25-year-old was present at the event with her mother.
At the event, Sweeney said she “got freaked out and called my family” when asked to appear in the video. “It’s the greatest thing ever,” she said. “I didn’t know it was going to be the first single, but I love the song, it sticks in my head.”
Discussing the new album, Jagger joked that he and Richards originally “thought the album’s theme should be ‘anger’,” adding, “We had a second idea, which was to give it a little more versatility create, with ballads.” So we have a mix.”
In addition, numerous other details about the album were announced, including the titles of the other tracks and possible collaborations.
Hackney Diamonds will feature two tracks featuring the late drummer and founding member of the Rolling Stones Charlie Watts following his death in 2021. Keith Richards said: “Since Charlie [has] gone”, things felt “different” with the band.
Jagger also confirmed that original band member Bill Wyman is featured on one of the tracks. “We asked Bill to come over and do a track so we could have the original line-up on a track,” he said.

As for other features, the band teased a possible collaboration with Lady Gaga — though it wasn’t clear if that was a hoax or not. While previous rumors have suggested that former Beatles members Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr will appear on the new album, the band has neither confirmed nor addressed this.

Explaining why it took the group 18 years to release a new album of original songs, Jagger joked they were doing “different things”.
“Maybe we were a little lazy, so we said, ‘Let’s set a deadline,'” he said. “We talked and said, ‘Let’s make this record for Christmas and get it done by Valentine’s Day.'”
However, Jagger said the group was extremely proud of the record. “I don’t want to be cocky, but we wouldn’t have released this album if we didn’t really like it,” he said.
“We said we had to make a record that we really love. We’re very happy with it, we’re not too concerned about it, but we hope you all enjoy it.”
Hackney Diamonds will be released on October 20th.
