The secret European seaside resort only locals know about – with quiet beaches and stunning sea views

A small seaside resort in Europe is hailed as a seaside resort so off the beaten track only the locals know it.

Ospedaletti is located in the Italian region of Liguria near the French border.

Due to the proximity to FranceDon’t expect many Brits as the majority of visitors are Italians and French holidaymakers.

Anne Roderique-Jones said she spends everything Summer She is there with her husband and joins the few thousand locals who live there.

She wrote on T+L: “The beach is probably this city’s biggest draw, and its little-known status offers fewer crowds and clearer water.”

“On the coast there are beach clubs where Italians tan from late morning until sunset.”

Anne added that one local even said Ospedaletti was the “next Monte Carlo”.

The public beach is Sirena Beach, but further down is La Scogliera Beach.

There are a few Hotels in the area, but don’t expect big resorts.

Popular hotels to choose from include the 3-star Hotel La Perla Del Capo or the 3-star Hotel Petit Royal, both just a short walk from the beach.

There are great restaurants to choose from including Bar Alba with an inner courtyard or Baizarico for fresh pizza.

If you fancy a challenging day there is also a 15 mile track To go biking Route along the coast on the former railway line, bicycles can be hired.

The best way to get there is by flight Prettywhich takes around two hours from the UK, with a further hour’s drive to the resort.

Also in Italy is La Pelosa beach in Sardinia, although it can get very crowded here in the summer.

If you’re looking for something off the beaten path, Brits should head to Albena in Bulgaria, which is less well known to British holidaymakers and often heads to Sunny Beach instead.

Or head to Palanga in Lithuania, which has long been popular with locals and Eastern European tourists.
