The unique autumn train journey in the UK – with light show and live DJ set

A special train ride is also planned this year, which will take passengers on a nighttime journey with lights, music and illuminated landscapes.

North Yorkshire is home to some of the most stunning scenery in the country, but few people have the opportunity to see it illuminated in vibrant color from the cab of a classic train.

The trains are illuminated both inside and outside during the journey

But every autumn the North Yorkshire Moors Railway Light Spectacular sets off on a unique journey and offers a party on board that gives young people “the time of their lives”.

This year the trips will take place on selected dates between October 27th and November 12th.

The ‘historic’ carriages are wrapped inside and out with twinkling fairy lights while a carefully curated selection of music plays throughout, accompanied by commentary from the voice actor from ‘X-Factor’.

The journey takes an hour and runs between Pickering and Levisham. Each passenger on board receives a light-up bracelet that flashes in sync with the music.

Refreshments are sold at Pickering Station for passengers on board. A trolley service is also available during the trip.

Someone who loved their Light Spectacular trip was a blogger Little Vikingswho said it was great entertainment for all their children.

They wrote: “For sixty minutes we sat in our seats dancing and singing to music from the ’60s and beyond at top volume as we drove through the illuminated countryside.”

“Our younger children (10 and 8) loved it, and even our harder-to-please 12-year-old grudgingly admitted he really enjoyed it.

“Lots of toddler/preschoolers were bouncing around in their seats and looking like they were having the time of their lives.”

They also shared footage from their trip on Tiktok (@littlevikingsyorkforkids) showing what people can expect.

It showed the illuminated carriages, the flashing bracelets and the illuminated Yorkshire landscapes.

The Light Spectacular website says: “Admire our historic carriages decorated with thousands of lights before setting off from Pickering Station on an awe-inspiring journey with a DJ music mix to get you in the mood for a party with the whole family .” will enjoy it.

“Each passenger receives their own interactive LED wristband that syncs with the music and passengers become part of the show.”

“This one-hour return journey, with commentary and music on board, travels from Pickering Station to Levisham Station.”

Train tickets cost £25 for adults and children, while carers travel for free.

Discounts are available for larger group bookings.
