A seaside resort in the UK boasts one of ‘Britain’s best beaches’ – and has even been featured in an award-winning Hollywood blockbuster.
Holkham Beach in Norfolk is often referred to as the jewel of the north coast for its long stretch of golden sand.
A study by the AA also listed it as one of the best beaches in the UK, praising it for being dog-friendly, as well as lifeguard services and a beach car park.
You can even rent one of the many brightly colored beach huts that stand on stilts along part of the beach.
The beach borders the Holkham Pines, a huge strip of pine trees that forms part of the National Conservation Area and is popular with walkers.
There’s also a café, The Lookout, which can use binoculars to view the local wildlife while also selling snacks and drinks.
And it was even featured in an award-winning Hollywood blockbuster.
The 1998 Movie “Shakespeare in Love” used the beach for the final scene, showing Gwyneth Paltrow walking on the sand.
It is also highly rated by tourists, most people give it 5 stars on TripAdvisor.
One wrote: “The beach is excellent. Very long unspoilt sandy beach and the water is great for swimming.”
Another said: “A unique beach. It is huge and largely untouched by development. No cheap shops or food vendors. As nature intended.”
A third said: “I’ve been to some great beaches across the UK but this is the best.”
If you fancy staying nearby, Pinewoods Holiday Park is a short drive away and is one of the top rated resorts in the area.
Tourists can choose between caravans and cabins in which to stay. The park also has a playground, shop and cafe on site.
Holkham Beach is about an hour’s drive from Norwich. The train journey from Norwich to London takes approximately 1 hour and 45 minutes.
